Terms of use
Last updated Sep 22, 2026
These terms are the agreement between you and us about using parita. By signing in, you accept them.
What parita is
parita records the expenses two co-parents split and the repayments they make, and shows both of them the same balance. It is a bookkeeping tool: it never moves or holds money, it is not connected to your bank, and it does not decide what either of you owes. Every figure it shows is one you entered, under a split rule you agreed on between yourselves.
Your account
You sign in with an email address you control, by magic link or with Google. Keep that mailbox and that Google account to yourself, because whoever can open them can read your ledger. parita is for the two adults of a family: children have no accounts, and you may not create one for them. A family holds exactly two parents, and the one who creates it invites the other by email.
How you may use it
Use parita for your own family's accounts and nothing else. Don't record anything unlawful, don't use the ledger, notes or disputes to harass the other parent, don't attach files you have no right to share, and don't try to reach data outside your own family, probe the service, or get around its limits. We may suspend an account that does.
What you record
Your expenses, notes and receipts stay yours. You give us only the permission needed to run parita for you: to store what you record, show it to the other parent in your family, and keep backups of it. Keeping your entries accurate is up to you, and so is remembering that the other parent sees all of them, receipts and notes included.
A shared history
The ledger belongs to both of you, so nothing in it is quietly rewritten: voiding an expense leaves it visible but out of the balance, and every change is logged and shown to the other parent. It also means you can't erase your side of the history on your own — deleting a family's data is something we do for the two of you, as set out in the privacy policy.
Not legal or financial advice
parita is not a lawyer, an accountant or a mediator. A balance in parita is the record the two of you keep: it is not a court order, an enforceable settlement or proof of a debt, and it may not match what your own agreement or a judgment requires of you. For that, ask a professional.
Availability and changes
parita is free and offered as it is. There is no guaranteed uptime, features can change or go away, and maintenance or a provider's outage can interrupt it. Keep your own copies of receipts you need to keep; parita is not an archive.
Limits of our responsibility
As far as the law allows, parita comes with no warranties, and we are not liable for what follows from using it, such as a balance that turns out wrong, data that is lost or corrupted, an interruption, or a disagreement between the two of you. Nothing here removes rights that the consumer law where you live gives you and does not let you waive.
Ending it
You can stop using parita whenever you like and ask us to delete your family's data. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, and we may retire parita altogether — if that happens, we tell you beforehand and leave you time to take your data out.
Changes to these terms
If these terms change, the new version appears on this page with a new date, and anything significant is announced in the app or by email. Using parita after that means the new terms apply to you.
